The Beautiful Struggle of All the Small Things

from I Am Becoming What I Hate the Most (Acuarela Discos, 2008) by The Secret Society

lyrics

THE BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE OF ALL THE SMALL THINGS. Things in this city are moving so fast that if I stay here for long I’ll became its past. I wonder where did the good people go, those who made promises of future and love. As absurd as a train that runs under the sea, I’m taking pictures of pictures of me, wearing the best shoes I could afford, laid on the couch with all the lights off and thinking of things that no one seems to care, like how many maps I ever had, like what makes a man become a cop and how many friends I ever lost. I find myself whistling some happy tunes in the street where I live and where I feel immune, where red lights and plastic bags and diamond rings are there to remind that you’re no longer with me.

Pepo M: voz, guitarra. Javier V: lap steel.
